North Texas SC and Chattanooga Red Wolves SC both tallied goals in the final minutes of Saturday’s match as the clubs played to a 2-2 draw at Globe Life Park.
Greg Hurst opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, collecting Josue Soto’s ball over the top and striking a stinging shot past Carlos Avilez to score his fourth goal in three games.
Hurst had a chance for a second minutes later as Ricardo Zacarias played him through on goal again, but Avilez was equal to his shot this time around and kept the deficit at one goal.
Ricardo Ruiz forced Avilez into another save in first half stoppage time, putting a first-time effort on frame from 18 yards out.
North Texas scored with its first real chance of the match as Ronaldo Damus beat his man on the right flank and curled an inch-perfect pass in behind the Chattanooga back four to Ben Redzic on the back post who finished the tap in.
Redzic doubled his tally in the 87th minute rising to meet Collin Smith’s cross near the penalty spot and finishing off the far post to beat goalkeeper Alex Mangels.
The Red Wolves answered immediately, as Marky Hernandez finished past Avilez after a tidy pass from Hurst in the 88th minute.
With the draw, Chattanooga moves above Tormenta FC into second place in the League One table, while North Texas remains in fifth.
