Goalkeeper Made Eight Saves in First Shutout of the Season

RICHMOND, Va. – (Tuesday, August 4, 2020) – USL League One announced on Tuesday that Kickers goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald has been named to the Team of the Week for Week 3. 
 
Fitzgerald made eight saves, all but one coming in the second half as he picked up his first shutout of the 2020 season. The Kickers picked up their first point in the draw against South Georgia Tormenta FC last Tuesday night. 
 
Richmond returns to action this Saturday for the Home Opener, presented by Woodfin as Forward Madison FC comes to town for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff at City Stadium. USL League One Team of the Week – Week 3
GK: Akira Fitzgerald, Richmond Kickers: The veteran shot-stopper recorded an eight-save shutout to earn the Kickers their first point of the season in a scoreless draw against South Georgia Tormenta FC on Tuesday night.
 
D: Christian Diaz, Forward Madison FC: Diaz completed 35 of 41 passes, won 9 of 15 duels, made three clearances, completed 2 of 2 dribbles and recorded one key pass in Madison’s scoreless draw with Greenville Triumph SC. 
 
D: Stefan Mueller, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Mueller helped Tormenta FC claim two shutouts, recording one assist and five chances created in attack while winning 5 of 7 duels and completing 95 of 111 passes. 
 
D: Leo Folla, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Folla made four interceptions, three recoveries and completed 28 of 36 passes to help the Red Wolves post a shutout in its victory against FC Tucson on Saturday night.
 
D: Diama Viader, Union Omaha: Viader won 10 of 14 duels, made five interceptions and won 3 of 4 tackles as Omaha posted a shutout in its inaugural home opener against North Texas SC at Werner Park.
 
M: Nil Vinyals, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Vinyals scored twice on three shots on goal and had two key passes while also completing 42 of 45 passes overall and winning 6 of 8 duels and recording seven recoveries defensively.
 
M: Luca Mayr, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Mayr recorded 10 shots overall and four shots on goal and recorded one assist on three key passes in attack, while winning 3 of 4 duels defensively.
 
M: Aaron Walker, Greenville Triumph SC: Walker completed five key passes and 44 of 55 passes overall, completed 3 of 3 dribbles, and recorded nine recoveries and two interceptions in Triumph SC’s 0-0 draw with Forward Madison FC. 
 
F: Ethan Vanacore-Decker, Union Omaha: Vanacore-Decker had one assist and four key passes for Los Buhos as they claimed victory in their inaugural home opener at Werner Park against North Texas SC. 
 
F: Evan Conway, Union Omaha: Conway scored the lone goal in Union’s first victory in club history against North Texas SC, writing his name into the club’s record book as Omaha’s first goalscorer.
 
F: Greg Hurst, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Hurst scored the first goal in CHI Memorial Stadium to lead Chattanooga to victory in its first game at its permanent home, and made five recoveries while winning 3 of 4 aerial duels defensively.
