Midfielder Nil Vinyals scored twice as South Georgia Tormenta FC defeated Orlando City B Saturday night at Erk Russell Park.
The breakthrough for Tormenta FC came 15 minutes into the second half when Stefan Mueller found Vinyals in space near the top of the 18-yard box. Vinyals took a touch towards goal and struck a shot from distance that hit the underside of the crossbar and beat goalkeeper Austin Aviza to open the scoring.
It was 2-0 minutes later as Luca Mayr found Vinyals again at the top of the penalty area with a low cross from the right flank. The Spanish midfielder calmly slotted a first-time shot past Aviza at the near post to double the hosts’ advantage.
Orlando City B struggled to create in the attacking half and failed to put a shot on goal in the match as Pablo Jara earned his second clean sheet of the week without making a save.
Tormenta FC remains undefeated after picking up its first victory of the season and moving into second place, while Orlando City B sits in 10th place with only one match played.
