The New England Revolution II and Union Omaha earned the first point in each of the clubs' histories as the League One newcomers drew 0-0 Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.
Omaha's first big chance came from a free kick from about 30 yards out. After a well-worked set piece routine, Damia Viader struck a stinging shot that just went over the crossbar.
New England nearly broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute as Ryan Spaulding skipped past his defender on the endline and served a cross to the back post, but Lcas Maciel's volley missed the target.
Juan Ignacio Mare had a header cleared off the before Maciel hit the post on a curling effort from the top of the penalty area. Minutes later Ryo Shimizaki took advantage of a loose pass in Omaha's defensive third and struck a well-hit shot on frame, but goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu palmed it over the bar.
The point moves Omaha and New England into a tie for second place prior to the other four League One matches on Saturday night.
