Good Morning RVA Soccer Community,

On behalf of our incredible team and dedicated staff, I would like to say thank you for the encouragement and support so many of you - fans, sponsors, partners, and season membership holders, have provided through the last eight challenging weeks. Our ambition at this time of the spring, two months into our second USL League One season, was to sit at the top of the League One table after all of the hard work our squad had put in throughout the preseason. Sadly, this pandemic has forced a needed pause, as our community leaders and healthcare providers chart a safe path forward for all of us. We look forward to again gathering together at City Stadium and celebrating the wonderful diversity of both RVA and the world’s most popular sport.

Until that time, we will continue to stay active in our community, sharing our enthusiasm for our healthcare community and other essential workers that continue to shine in supporting roles. We are thankful for your participation in our #RallyTogether effort in partnership with CBS 6, Bon Secours, and Feed More. We look forward to that first home game where you can cheer on our team with your rally towel, while we also honor healthcare workers at City Stadium. If you have not purchased your rally towel yet, please visit this link: https://www.richmondkickers.com/news_article/show/1102836

We are thrilled to unveil the many new improvements at City Stadium including Musco’s state of the art lighting system, a new sound system, an improved concourse experience, and more. We believe these new sights and sounds will match nicely with Coach Sawatzky’s exciting, heavy metal approach to the beautiful game.

Our players have adjusted well to Darren’s high tempo and energetic style during the preseason, while demonstrating a togetherness that reminds me of our 1995 US Open Cup Championship team.  We are honored by the players' dedication as they have remained in market to prepare for the 2020 season. Between zoom calls, individual trainings, and providing training exercises for our youth players, several of the guys have also volunteered their time at both Feed More and the Red Cross during the quarantine. We are proud that the guys have embraced the community with the same zeal that they play the game with.  For anyone who would like to participate in our upcoming Red Cross blood drive, the date is Monday, May 18, at the Drury Hotel in Innsbrook, to make an appointment to donate, please click here: redcrossblood.org.

Feel free to reach out with any questions, suggestions, or ideas on how we can continue to support the RVA soccer family at this time. We are thankful for each of you, and hope you continue to stay safe and healthy in the coming weeks.

Keep on smiling,

Rob Ukrop
