Union Omaha has signed midfielder Sebastian Contreras and defender Illal Osumanu, the club announced Monday afternoon.
Contreras joins Union Omaha after playing the 2019 season in USL Championship with El Paso Locomotive. The Argentinian midfielder scored three goals, added four assists, and created a team-high 46 chances in 34 matches for El Paso as the expansion side advanced to the Western Conference Final in its inaugural season.
Prior to his time in El Paso, Contreras played six professional seasons for various clubs across South America.
Osumanu joins Contreras as the newest addition to Union Omaha Head Coach Jay Mims’ squad. The Accra, Ghana native recently finished his collegiate career at Marshall University, where he captained the side to a 16-3-3 record and a Conference USA Championship.
During his time in college, Osumanu played in USL League Two for both the Flint City Bucks and West Virginia Alliance FC in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
