FC Tucson has signed midfielder Adrian “AJ” Valenzuela ahead of the 2020 season, the club announced Tuesday. Valenzuela spent  a portion of his youth career with the FC Tucson Youth Soccer Club.

“I would always attend FC Tucson games when I was younger,” said Valenzuela. “So being able to sign with the club is a dream come true! I thank everyone for helping me get to this point in my life. Time to get to work!”

Valenzuela most recently played for FC Tucson in USL League Two during the 2018 season prior to the club’s move to the professional level in 2019. The 6-3 midfielder played 11 matches for FCT in 2018, scoring three goals and tallying three assists to help the side reach Western Conference Final.

Prior to joining FCT, Valenzuela finished his collegiate career at San Diego State University where he played 32 matches across his junior and senior seasons. Valenzuela played his first two collegiate seasons at Pima Community College. The Tucson-native earned several accolades during his time as an Aztec, including First Team All-American honors.
