Forward Madison FC has re-signed club captain Connor Tobin ahead of the 2020 season, the club announced Monday. Tobin will play his 12th professional season with the second-year club.

“Connor is the captain of our team and the life of our club,” said Forward Madison Head Coach and Technical Director Daryl Shore. “Forward Madison is Connor Tobin and Connor Tobin is Forward Madison. He emulates everything our fans and our community is about.”

Tobin captained Forward Madison to the USL League One Playoffs in the club’s inaugural season, starting 28 matches. The 33-year-old center back led the league in clearances with 132 in 2019, while making 129 recoveries, 31 interceptions, and 38 tackles.

Tobin was a galvanizing force both inside the locker room and out and became a fan favorite during Forward Madison’s first season. Following the conclusion of the 2019 season, Tobin received messages of support and encouragement to return from club supporters.

“It was pretty touching,” said Tobin. “Some of the people that reached out, all those messages were much appreciated. I’m excited to be back and do whatever I can to help this community grow.”

With over 200 professional appearances on his resume, Tobin is one of the most experienced players in League One. Prior to joining Forward Madison in 2019, the Fort Collins, Colorado native played for USL Championship clubs North Carolina FC and Rochester Rhinos as well as Minnesota United prior to their ascent to Major League Soccer.
