Goalkeeper joins Tyler David and John Scearce as newest players on inaugural roster

Nuhu played four matches for New York Red Bulls II in 2019.

Union Omaha has signed goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu and midfielders Tyler David and John Scearce, the club announced Sunday.

“We continue to add important pieces to the team as we learn more about our current group,” said Union Omaha Head Coach Jay Mims. “This trio includes great experience, leadership and athleticism while still integrating our core values.”

Nuhu joins Omaha’s inaugural squad after spending the 2019 season with USL Championship club New York Red Bulls II. The Accra, Ghana native is the first goalkeeper to be added to Union Omaha’s 2020 roster.

Like Nuhu, David has USL Championship experience. The  6-2 midfielder most recently played for Hartford Athletic in the club’s inaugural season in 2019 and previously played 50 matches for Saint Louis FC across two seasons. David also brings international experience to Omaha’s roster. He played 19 matches for BK-46 in the third division in Finland in 2018.

Scearce joins Omaha from the college ranks, where he recently completed his collegiate career at Cornell University. After transfering from Yavapai College prior to his junior year, Scearce scored ten goals and tallied three assists in 31 games for Cornell. Following his senior year, Scearce played 12 matches and registered four assists for Lionsbridge FC during the 2019 USL League Two season.

With the addition of Nuhu, David and Scearce, Omaha’s inaugural roster now sits at 19 players. The club drew 0-0 with USL Championship side Real Monarchs SLC in its first preseason match on Sunday.
