TUCSON, Ariz. – New FC Tucson President Amanda Powers welcomed season-ticket holders to the club’s first supporter listening party on Thursday night at Pueblo Vida Brewing.
The group was joined by a special guest in U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame member Hank Steinbrecher. The General Secretary of U.S. Soccer between 1990 and 2000, Steinbrecher spoke to the crowd and expressed his excitement at new Powers’ appointment to lead the organization.
“It was an amazing event,” said Powers. “The conversations and vision we were able to put forward is going to be a great launching pad as we head toward the Visit Tucson Sun Cup next month and the USL League One season opener in late March.”
In welcoming supporters’, Powers was able to hear directly from fans and give them an insight in to where she’s aiming to take FC Tucson in both the short and long term. The lone current female club President in men’s professional soccer in the United States, Powers brings with her experience from launching the USL Championship’s New Mexico United. Becoming an essential part of community life was a key element of NMU’s immediate success, and Powers is looking to bring something the same approach in Tucson.
“I am very much an idea person who also very much understands the ‘how’ in how you get those things done,” Powers told USLSoccer.com recently. “I think from a professional standpoint, my whole career I’ve had to not only figure out the ‘how’, but also figure out the ‘what, and now my goal personally and professionally this year is to focus on the ‘what’, and let my team figure out the ‘how.’”

To that end, FC Tucson is looking to build out its staff ahead of the new season. The club recently posted 10 new job positions including a Partnerships Coordinator, Associate Brand Designer and Ticketing Account Executive that Powers hopes will help drive the club forward off the field.
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of FC Tucson and the Club intends to enter the new decade with a commitment to showcasing top talent and bringing the community together in a whole new fashion,” said Powers. “We are calling all Futbolers, Supporters, Fans, and Community Members to join us in this new decade to build a movement and make this Club their own.”
