After serving as an assistant under former FC Tucson Head Coach Darren Sawatzky during the 2019 USL League One season, John Galas will take the reins in 2020. Galas was announced as the club’s fifth-ever head coach and second head coach in the team’s professional era last month.
“I’d like to thank Bobby Dulle, Rick Shantz, and the ownership group for this tremendous opportunity,” Galas said. “I’m looking forward to working closely with the technical staff and building our team here in Tucson that our community will be proud of. It is an absolute honor to be able to lead this team next season. This will be an exciting project that I am very much looking forward to.”
Galas has over 20 years of coaching experience across all levels of soccer. Prior to joining FC Tucson in 2019, he served as Sporting Director and Head Coach of Lane United in USL League Two for six seasons. Galas also had coaching stints at various NCAA Division I universities and with the Portland Thorns of the National Women’s Soccer League.
