RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers announced on Tuesday the signing of midfielder David Diosa for the 2020 USL League One season, pending league and federation approval.
“David is a crafty left sided player with the ability to take guys on with an engine to run box to box for us if needed,” said Darren Sawatzky, Kickers Sporting Director and Head Coach. “He gives us another attacking option with a bit of bite on the left side and we look forward to watching him buzz up and down the left flank this season.”
Playing in the New York Cosmos youth system, Diosa signed his first professional contract in 2013 with the first team. Over five seasons with the Cosmos, the Colombian logged over 40 matches and scored four goals, while adding five assists. He also had stints with OKC Energy FC and Real Monarchs SLC in the USL Championship.
“I’m really happy to be joining Richmond in such an awesome time for the club,” said Diosa. “It’s the perfect situation for me and I’m so excited to go and start playing for Darren. We’re gonna be a strong team in 2020 and I’m looking forward to a lot of success this season.”
