Greenville Triumph SC’s dramatic victory on Tuesday night sealed its place in the USL League One Playoffs and eliminated FC Tucson from contention. With a tripleheader kicking off this weekend’s action – including Forward Madison FC’s chance to clinch a place and set the playoff field – here’s where things stand going into the penultimate weekend of the regular season.

Projections via sportsclubstats.com

1. North Texas SC
z - 1. North Texas SC
Record: 16-6-5, 53pts
Playoff Odds Clinched
Projected Final Position: 1.0
Max Points Available: 56pts
Magic Number: N/A
Upcoming: @ TUC (10/4)
North Texas is only playing for the record book at this point, which meant that only the club’s pride might have been affected by Sunday’s loss to Forward Madison FC. With a bye this week, NTSC will rest up ahead of its visit to FC Tucson on the final weekend of the regular season.
2. Lansing Ignite FC
x - 2. Lansing Ignite FC
Record: 12-5-10, 46pts
Playoff Odds Clinched
Projected Final Position: 2.4
Max Points Available: 49pts
Magic Number: N/A
Upcoming: vs. MAD (10/5)
Ignite FC was the other team closely affected by Greenville’s victory on Tuesday night, which kept alive the possibility it could be usurped for second place by Triumph SC. Lansing fans will again have to keep an eye on Greenville on Friday night as it hosts Orlando City B in its home finale with a chance to move into second place.
3. Greenville Triumph SC
x - 3. Greenville Triumph SC
Record: 12-7-7, 43pts
Playoff Odds Clinched
Projected Final Position: 2.6
Max Points Available: 49pts
Magic Number: N/A
Upcoming: vs. ORL (9/27)
Greenville got potentially the hardest leg of its bid for second place taken care of thanks to Chris Bermudez’s late winner against Tucson, which also ensured a place in the playoffs for Head Coach John Harkes’ side. A win against last-place Orlando City B in Friday’s regular-season home finale would jump Triumph SC into second place on the total wins tiebreaker and put pressure on Lansing as the regular season goes to its final weekend.
4. Forward Madison FC
4. Forward Madison FC
Record: 11-9-6, 39pts
Playoff Odds 80.6%
Projected Final Position: 4.2
Max Points Available: 45pts
Magic Number: 3pts
Upcoming: @ TUC (9/27)
While it reduced their chances of finishing higher than fourth position, the Flamingos were probably appreciative of Greenville’s victory on Tuesday night which means Madison will get to take on an FC Tucson side playing for nothing but pride on Friday night as it looks to seal a playoff place. If it earns the victory it needs, and Greenville takes victory against Orlando, we’ll have one semifinal locked in.

5. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC
5. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC
Record: 9-8-9, 36pts
Playoff Odds 17.7%
Projected Final Position: 5.1
Max Points Available: 42pts
Magic Number: 7pts
Upcoming: vs. RIC (9/28)
The Red Wolves were so unlikely to catch Greenville the result on Tuesday night didn’t really affect them much. Chattanooga’s staff and fans will be paying close attention to Madison’s clash with Tucson on Friday night, however, hoping that the Flamingos slip up ahead of their contest on Saturday at home against the Richmond Kickers.
6. South Georgia Tormenta FC
6. South Georgia Tormenta FC
Record: 8-8-10, 34pts
Playoff Odds 1.7%
Projected Final Position: 6.5
Max Points Available: 40pts
Magic Number: 9pts
Upcoming: @ TOR (9/27)
South Georgia is going to need to take victory against Toronto FC II in the opening game of Friday’s tripleheader to try and put some pressure on Madison and Chattanooga ahead of their contests over the weekend. If Tormenta FC fails to take its first victory since July 24, however, its season will be over.

Eliminated: FC Tucson, Richmond Kickers, Toronto FC II, Orlando City B
