Lansing’s Mentzingen Named League One Player of the Week

Recorded one goals, two assists as Ignite FC took four points from two outings

TAMPA, Fla. – Lansing Ignite FC midfielder Rafael Mentzingen has been named the USL League One Player of the Week for Week 16 of the league’s inaugural 2019 season.

Mentzingen recorded one goal and two assists over Lansing’s two outings over the week, including helping lead a dramatic victory against Forward Madison FC last Tuesday night that moved Ignite FC into third place in the League One Standings.

GK – Juliano Chade, Orlando City B: Chade made five saves to keep OCB in the game against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC before the hosts scored a late equalizer last Wednesday night.

D – Thomas Roberts, North Texas SC: Roberts scored the opening goal, completed 47 of 60 passes overall – including 32 in the attacking half – and had five key passes in NTSC’s victory against Richmond.

D – Nicholas Amponsah, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Amponsah scored the game-tying goal for the Red Wolves against Madison in addition to completing 45 of 54 passes and winning 10 of 13 duels.

D – Patrick Bunk-Andersen, Toronto FC II: Bunk-Anderson scored a late goal to complete a performance that saw him win 4 of 5 duels and complete 38 of 46 passes in Toronto’s victory against Tormenta FC.

D – Callum Montgomery, North Texas SC: Montgomery won 8 of 9 duels, completed 30 of 37 passes, won three tackles and made three interceptions in addition to finding the net in North Texas’ road win against the Kickers.

M – Griffin Dorsey, Toronto FC II: Dorsey had one assist, two key passes and completed 29 of 32 passes overall while making six recoveries and recording two tackles in TFC II’s shutout of South Georgia.

M – Aaron Walker, Greenville Triumph SC: Walker scored a dramatic late winner against Orlando City B to cap a performance that also saw him complete 36 of 43 passes and record four shots.

M – Rafael Mentzingen, Lansing Ignite FC: Menztingen had a goal and two assists over the week, including scoring and providing the game-winning assist in Lansing’s Tuesday night win against Madison.

F – Jordan Jones, FC Tucson: Jones scored Tucson’s second goal in a 2-2 draw with Lansing and posted four shots, one key pass and completed 11 of 16 passes overall for the game.

F – Tumi Moshobane, Lansing Ignite FC: Moshobane scored both goals, recorded three shots on goal and one key pass and won 11 of 15 duels in Ignite FC’s 2-2 draw with FC Tucson on Saturday night.

F – Jordan Perruzza, Toronto FC II: Perruzza had one goal on three shots, made two key passes and completed 20 of 23 passes overall to help lead TFC II past South Georgia on Friday evening.
