North Texas’ Damus Named League One Player of the Week

Continued scoring streak with goals against Tucson, Lansing as NTSC won pair of contests

TAMPA, Fla. – North Texas SC forward Ronaldo Damus has been named the USL League One Player of the Week for Week 14 of the league’s inaugural 2019 season.

Damus led North Texas to a pair of victories over the week, scoring the game-winner in the side’s 1-0 win against FC Tucson on Tuesday before adding another in a 3-1 win against Lansing Ignite FC on Saturday. Damus has now recorded goals in four consecutive games and leads League One with nine goals on the season.

GK – Kevin Silva, Toronto FC II: Silva posted six saves, including an outstanding double-save in the first half, to help his side earn a 1-1 draw with Forward Madison FC on Friday evening.

D – Dante Campbell, Toronto FC II: Campbell recorded a game-high five interceptions, made eight recoveries and won 7 of 10 duels in the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Forward Madison FC.

D – Jonathan Gomez, North Texas SC: Gomez recorded two assists in North Texas’ 3-1 victory against Lansing on Saturday night while completing 44 of 51 passes overall and recording six recoveries.

D – Connor Tobin, Forward Madison FC: Tobin won 9 of 11 duels and 6 of 6 aerial duels, made six clearances and six recoveries and completed 65 of 76 passes in Madison’s 1-1 draw with Toronto FC II.

D – Cole Seiler, Greenville Triumph SC: Seiler recorded two key passes, won 8 of 10 duels and 6 of 7 aerial duels and made four recoveries in Greenville’s 2-0 road victory against Orlando City B.

M – Arturo Rodriguez, North Texas SC: Across two outings, Rodriguez registered six key passes, completed 92 of 102 passes overall and scored in NTSC’s 3-1 victory on Saturday against Lansing Ignite FC.

M – Carlos Gomez, Greenville Triumph SC: Gomez found the net and completed 33 of 43 passes while recording eight recoveries and winning 5 of 7 duels and 3 of 3 aerial duels in a strong two-way performance against Orlando.

M – Eric Leonard, Forward Madison FC: Leonard won 9 of 13 duels, made three interceptions and seven recoveries in a solid display during Madison’s 1-1 draw against Toronto FC II.

F – Jake Keegan, Greenville Triumph SC: Keegan recorded one assist and four key passes while completing 16 of 17 passes overall in Greenville’s 2-0 road victory against Orlando City B.

F – Ronaldo Damus, North Texas SC: Damus continued his scoring streak with goals in both of North Texas’ wins against FC Tucson and Lansing Ignite FC while also making 10 recoveries and completing 31 of 41 passes over the two games.

F – Steven Beattie, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Beattie scored the lone goal as the Red Wolves took their fourth win in the past five games with a 1-0 victory against the Richmond Kickers.
