TAMPA, Fla. – Forward Madison FC goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre has snagged the USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 13 of the league’s inaugural campaign as his standout save that kept the side level against North Texas SC early in the second half of their clash at Breese Stevens Field last Saturday took top spot in the weekly poll.
With the game level early in the first half, Sylvestre had to be alert and quickly off his line as League One leading scorer Ronaldo Damus got in behind the Madison defense. The veteran goalkeeper met the NTSC forward at the top of the penalty area and smothered his shot, sending the rebound to safety. The save proved key as Madison went on to take a 4-1 win on its three second-half goals.
Sylvestre’s save earned 72 percent of the poll conducted online at USLLeagueOne.com that concluded on Friday morning. Lansing Ignite FC’s Stefan Cleveland finished second on 25 percent for his diving save to keep out Orlando City B’s Christopher Osei-Wusu last Saturday night, while North Texas SC’s Carlos Avilez finished third for his denial of Madison’s J.C. Banks in the first half of NTSC’s clash with Madison.
