South Georgia goalkeeper’s diving stop against Orlando took top spot in weekly poll

TAMPA, Fla. – South Georgia Tormenta FC goalkeeper Pablo Jara has claimed the USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 12 of the league’s inaugural campaign as his acrobatic stop helped his side claim a 2-0 victory over Orlando City B at Erk Russell Park and earned Jara his third weekly award of the season.

Jara recorded his fourth consecutive clean sheet against Orlando and extended his shutout streak to 414 minutes, with his save just after the half-hour mark proving to be his most important over the 90 minutes. OCB captain Rafael worked some space on the right edge of the penalty area and fired a dipping effort at goal, but Jara got down quickly to parry the shot behind for a corner kick.

Jara’s save earned 57 percent of the poll conducted online at USLLeagueOne.com that concluded on Friday morning. FC Tucson’s Carlos Valdez finished second on 36 percent for his close-range stop on Orlando’s William Bagrou to preserve his side’s 2-1 victory at Montverde Academy, while Orlando City B’s Juliano Chade took third for his diving save on Tormenta FC’s Alex Morrell in the opening 15 minutes of OCB’s defeat to South Georgia.
