Brilliant one-on-one save in shutout against Kickers took top spot in online poll

TAMPA, Fla. – FC Tucson goalkeeper Philip Ejimadu has claimed the USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 11 of the league’s inaugural campaign as his crucial save helped the side claim a scoreless draw against the Richmond Kickers at the Kino Soccer Complex and earned Ejimadu his fourth weekly award of the season.

Ejimadu recorded his third shutout of the season against the Kickers, with his save midway through the first half one of the key moments in the contest. Richmond leading scorer Joe Gallardo did well to navigate past his marker in the defender, but Ejimadu was on hand to make himself big and deny the opportunity as the rebound reached a defender to clear.

Ejimadu’s save earned 54 percent of the poll conducted online at USLLeagueOne.com that concluded on Friday morning. The Richmond Kickers’ Akira Fitzgerald finished second on 38 percent for his strong late save on Tucson’s Roy Abergil that preserved a point for the visitors late in the same game, while Orlando City B’s Christian Herrera took third for his reaction save on Forward Madison FC’s J.C. Banks in the first half of OCB’s victory against the Flamingos.
