TORONTO – Standout Toronto FC II midfielder Noble Okello has been included in the final 23-man roster announced by Canada on Thursday that will represent the country in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. Okello, who has represented his country at the U-20 level, is one of two players named to the squad that has yet to make his senior international debut.

The 18-year-old has made seven appearances for Toronto FC II in its inaugural season in USL League One and has registered an 80.7 percent accuracy rate on 39.3 passes per 90 minutes while recording eight key passes over the course of the current campaign. Signed as a Homegrown Player by Toronto FC this past offseason, Okello has yet to make his debut in Major League Soccer but is viewed as one of the club’s top young players.

Okello is joined in the Canada squad by Toronto FC midfielder Jonathan Osorio and Ashtone Morgan but could take some inspiration from Gold Cup teammate Mark-Anthony Kaye, who was a standout in the USL Championship for Louisville City FC before making his breakthrough in the top flight for Los Angeles FC last season.

Canada opens the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup on June 15 against Martinique before facing Mexico (June 19) and Cuba (June 23) to conclude the group stage. The top two teams will advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals.
