Standout free kick that sparked comeback in Lansing claimed top spot in weekly poll

TAMPA, Fla. – North Texas SC forward Ricardo Pepi has claimed the USL League One Fan’s Choice Goal of the Week for Week 8 of the league’s inaugural season as his superb free kick to the top-right corner last Saturday against Lansing Ignite FC took top spot in the weekly online poll.

In his first game since returning from representing the United States at the Concacaf U-17 Championship at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., Pepi picked up where he had left off for North Texas with an arrowed free kick from the left side of the penalty area that picked out the opposite corner. The goal was Pepi’s fifth of the season, leading League One, and sparked a late two-goal comeback that saw NTSC maintain its undefeated record.

Pepi’s goal earned 39 percent of the poll conducted online at USLLeagueOne.com that concluded on Thursday lunchtime, narrowly edging out Orlando City B’s Moises Tablante on 38 percent for his curling finish to the top-left corner against Toronto FC II last Friday night. FC Tucson’s Devyn Jambga took third on 23 percent for his curled rebound finish that highlighted a two-goal night in his side’s victory against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC last Saturday.
