Midfielder’s first professional goal that helped continue perfect start took top spot in weekly poll

TAMPA, Fla. – North Texas SC midfielder Tanner Tessmann has earned the USL League One Fan’s Choice Goal of the Week for Week 7 of the league’s inaugural season as his first-time finish to cap off a clever passing build-up by the League One leaders last Saturday against Orlando City B took top spot in the weekly online poll.

The goal was Tessmann’s first in the professional ranks and began a run of four consecutive goals for North Texas as it reeled off its fifth successive victory to start the League One season. After Arturo Rodriguez found Bryan Reynolds on the right side, his low cross toward the penalty spot allowed Oscar Romero to lay a pass off to Tessmann, who fired low into the bottom-left corner of the net.

Tessmann’s goal earned 50 percent of the poll conducted online at USLLeagueOne.com that concluded on Thursday lunchtime. The Richmond Kickers’ Joe Gallardo finished second on 44 percent for his long-range finish that proved the game-winner in his side’s 2-0 win against FC Tucson last Saturday night, while Toronto FC II’s Patrick Bunk-Andersen finished third for his powerful header against South Georgia Tormenta FC last Sunday evening.
