TAMPA, Fla. – South Georgia Tormenta FC midfielder Lucas Coutinho has claimed the USL League One Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month for March and April of the 2019 season as his tight-angle finish in Week 5 against FC Tucson at Kino Sports Complex took top spot in the online poll conducted over the past weekend.
One of South Georgia’s standout signings for its first professional season, Coutinho hit the ground running with two goals and an assist over the opening five weeks of the campaign. Both of his goals for the Statesboro side have come against Tucson, with the latter proving to be the game-winner of the teams’ second meeting as he picked up possession on the left side of the penalty area and fired a left-footed drive past the goalkeeper at his near post.
Coutinho’s goal earned 54 percent of the poll conducted online at USLLeagueOne.com that concluded on Monday. Jordan Perruzza’s cheeky chip for Toronto FC II against Orlando City B finished in second place with 34 percent of the vote, while Joe Gallardo’s solo effort for the Richmond Kickers against Greenville Triumph SC took third on six percent.
