Charles Boateng scores four in Kickers' victory; Madison advances past Bavarians

RICHMOND, Va. - Charles Boateng scored four goals to lead the Richmond Kickers to a 6-2 win over Virginia United Tuesday night at City Stadium. Boateng claimed his first two goals six minutes apart, giving Richmond a two-goal lead inside of 25 minutes. Virginia United pulled a goal back through Elias Martinez shortly after Boateng’s second, but that would be as close as the visitors would get to putting the League One side on upset alert.

Eli Lockaby and Daniel Jackson scored goals on either side of halftime to put the match out of reach. Boateng continued the onslaught with a strike that should compete for Goal of the Round in the 55th minute. The center forward received the ball in midfield, turned, and drove at goal before firing a rocket that found the top corner from 25 yards out.

Boateng tacked on one more after a good individual effort from Luke Pavone down the right wing in the 75th minute. Benardo Noel Majano scored for Virginia United in the 92nd minute to make it 6-2.

With the win, Richmond advances to the second round of the U.S. Open Cup where they'll take on North Carolina FC of the USL Championship at WakeMed Soccer Park on May 15

Tormenta FC 2 (3), Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (0) - Chattanooga Red Wolves SC fell to Tormenta FC 2, 3-0, Tuesday night at Erk Russell Field in Statesboro, Georgia. Jarvian Wigfal opened the scoring for Tormenta in the 25th minute, smashing a loose ball in from close range. Luca Mayr doubled the lead ten minutes after halftime, getting the slightest of touches on a cross from Adrian Billhardt to turn it goalwards and beat goalkeeper Alex Mangels. Billhardt added a goal to his statline to put the game out of reach in the 75th minute. The win sends Tormenta 2 to Tennessee for a second-round match-up with Nashville SC.

Bavarians SC (0), Forward Madison FC (2) - Two first-half goals helped Forward Madison sweep past Bavarians SC Tuesday night at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The first goal came just nine minutes into the game after Brian Bement forced a turnover in Madison's attacking third. Bement won the ball back just outside the Bavarians' penalty area and laid a perfectly weighted pass back to Brandon Eaton. Eaton's effort took a deflection and found the back of the net from 20 yards out to give the visitors an early lead. Forward doubled its advantage 30 minutes later when JC  Banks sprang Don Smart on a counter attack down the right flank. Smart played a low cross through the penalty area to Jiro Toyama who tucked it away. With the win, Madison advances to the second round where they'll take on El Paso Locomotive FC at Southwest University Ballpark.
