TAMPA, Fla. – South Georgia Tormenta FC midfielder Lucas Coutinho has taken the USL League One Fan’s Choice Goal of the Week for Week 5 of the league’s inaugural season as his sharp finish that capped an incisive passing move against FC Tucson last Friday night took top spot in the weekly online poll.
Coutinho scored the game-winning goal in Tormenta FC’s first road win of the season thanks to a clever piece of build-up play that began when Nil Vinyals found Marco Micaletto near the top of the penalty area. Micaletto slid the ball left to Charlie Dennis, who played Coutinho into space on the left side of the penalty area for a sharp finish to the near post.
Coutinho’s goal earned 75 percent of the poll conducted online at USLLeagueOne.com that concluded on Thursday lunchtime. The Richmond Kickers’ Joe Gallardo finished second on 17 percent for his first-time finish off Mutaya Mwape’s low cross against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, while Toronto FC II’s Luca Petrasso took third for his clever free kick from the right flank that opened the scoring in the Reds’ victory on the road at Lansing Ignite FC.
