TAMPA, Fla. – FC Tucson forward Jamael Cox has claimed the USL League One Fan’s Choice Goal of the Week for Week 3 of the league’s inaugural season as his strong low finish in the club’s home opener against Toronto FC II at the Kino Sports Complex took top spot in the weekly online poll.
Cox put his side ahead with 17 minutes to go in Tucson’s inaugural home opener in the professional ranks, capitalizing on a clever steal of possession in midfield as he moved into space in the left channel that left him open to shoot low into the right corner of the net. A longtime standout in USL League Two, the goal was Cox’s first in the senior professional ranks.
Cox’s goal earned 48 percent of the poll conducted online at USLLeagueOne.com that concluded on Thursday lunchtime. Lansing Ignite FC’s Nick Moon finished second on 43 percent for his rifled finish into the top-left corner of the net, while Orlando City B’s Alasaane took third place with 10 percent for his finish into the left corner after creating space on the right side of the penalty area from a low cross.
