Lansing’s Stoneman Claims League One Player of the Week

Strong defensive display was capped by goal in Ignite FC’s home-opener victory against Kickers

TAMPA, Fla. – Lansing Ignite FC defender Grant Stoneman has been named the USL League One Player of the Week for Week 3 of the league’s inaugural 2019 season.

Stoneman put in a standout display as Ignite FC took its second victory of the season in its inaugural home opener at Cooley Law School Stadium as he notched a goal and won 9 of 11 duels to help Lansing defeat the Richmond Kickers in front of a crowd of 3,369 fans.

GK – Juliano Chade, Orlando City B: Chade recorded five saves and completed 52 of 63 passes as Orlando took its first point of the season in a 1-1 draw against league-leaders Tormenta FC.

D – Grant Stoneman, Lansing Ignite FC: Stoneman found the net to cap a performance that saw him win 9 of 11 duels and record five recoveries and four clearances in Lansing’s victory against Richmond.

D – Callum Montgomery, North Texas SC: Montgomery won 7 of 8 duels and recorded six recoveries and five clearances as North Texas recorded a shutout victory against Forward Madison FC.

D – Nick Moon, Lansing Ignite FC: Moon scored the opening goal for Ignite FC, won 13 of 17 duels and recorded seven recoveries in his side’s victory against the Richmond Kickers.

D – Kody Wakasa, FC Tucson: Wakasa recorded a team-high seven clearances, won 5 of 7 duels and completed 63 of 74 passes to help Tucson earn a draw in its home opener against Toronto FC II.

M – Griffin Dorsey, Toronto FC II: Dorsey recorded an assist and three key passes while completing 23 of 29 passes overall in Toronto’s 1-1 draw on the road against FC Tucson.

M – Ualefi, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Ualefi won 6 of 8 duels, recorded five interceptions and four recoveries and completed 31 of 38 passes in the Red Wolves’ visit to Greenville.

M – Carlos Gomez, Greenville Triumph SC: Gomez provided the assist on the winning goal for the hosts and completed 12 of 15 passes overall as Greenville took its second consecutive victory.

F – Ricardo Pepi, North Texas SC: Pepi converted a stoppage-time penalty kick to earn NTSC its second consecutive victory and completed 17 of 21 passes overall.

F – Jamael Cox, FC Tucson: Cox opened the scoring for Tucson, completed 14 of 18 passes and made four recoveries in his side’s 1-1 draw against Toronto FC II.

F – Jake Keegan, Greenville Triumph SC: Keegan scored the lone goal in Greenville’s victory against Chattanooga and completed 11 of 14 passes overall.
