TAMPA, Fla. – Lansing Ignited FC goalkeeper Michael Kirk has earned the USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 2 of the 2019 season as his standout kick-save against Greenville Triumph SC took top spot in the online poll that concluded on Friday lunchtime.
An offseason arrival from Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, Kirk produced an outstanding close-range stop with his foot on Greenville’s Jake Keegan to keep the game tied late in the second half at Legacy Early College.
Kirk’s save earned 45 percent of the poll conducted online at USLLeagueOne.com that concluded on Friday morning. The Richmond Kickers’ Akira Fitzgerald finished second on 36 percent after his fingertip stop turned a left-footed free kick from Tormenta FC’s Charlie Dennis, helping him earn a shutout at City Stadium. Orlando City B’s Christian Herrera took third with 19 percent for his diving stop that kept out a long-range free kick from Toronto’s Tsubasa Endoh.
