Greenville, SC– The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club has announced the additions of defender Ryeong Choi and forward Edmundo Robinson to the club’s roster ahead of the 2019 inaugural season, pending league and federation approval.

Choi, a native of High Point, North Carolina and graduate of High Point University, comes to the team after spending 2018 in the Premier Development League (now USL League Two) as part of North Carolina FC’s Under-23 team, where he logged 1160 minutes across 14 games.

“I am beyond thankful to have been given the opportunity to build something from the ground up,” said Choi. “With the special group of players, coaches, and the Greenville community that we have, there will be a lot of excitement this inaugural season. Get your popcorn ready!”

“Choi has shown a unique combination or passion, technical ability and versatility as a defender during our trial period,” said Head Coach John Harkes. “His attitude and character have stood out through the transition of being a pro. We’re happy to have him on board.”

Forward Edmundo Robinson, originally from Stone Mountain, Georgia, attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC. During his 4 seasons at Queens, he netted 30 goals and was the South Atlantic Conference’s Player of the Year in 2018. Robinson additionally played for the S.C. United Bantams in the summer of 2018, appearing in 11 games for the PDL club.

“I want to thank to the Greenville Triumph and John Harkes for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to sign my first professional contract,” said Robinson. “It’s a dream come true and it gives more motivation to fight and train hard every day for the club, city and my teammates.”

Harkes describes Robinson as “a powerful, athletic striker with versatility to play wide midfield. We think is a perfect complement to our club, and we’re excited to have him on board.”

Choi and Robinson’s signings bring the club to 18 players on their inaugural 2019 roster.

The Triumph’s inaugural home game is set for April 6 at Legacy Early College. Get your season tickets by visiting greenvilletriumph.com/season-tickets.
